INTRODUCTION

Mata Sahib Kaur Public School, Swara is managed and run by Gurdwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, Sector 34-D, Chandigarh. This emerging school of excellence was incepted in 1st April, 2000. With the aim to establish and run an English medium institution in the rural area that shall be open to all without discrimination of race, creed, color or social status.

Significance of School’s Name

The name Mata Sahib Kaur Public School is given after the name of Mata Sahib Kaur - The mother of Khalsa. She was the wife of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (10th guru of sikh who created Khalsa in April 1699) who looked after Khalsa after Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Rangi the then president of Gurdwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, Sector 34-D, Chandigarh with the aim of establishing and run an English medium institution in the rural area that shall be open to all without any discrimination. The best of both worlds serene, peaceful, clan, in lush green fields away from the noisy & polluted atmosphere of the cities. Modern infrastructure, well knitted transport communication and medical facilities where students can learn, grow in an undisturbed environment. The school is a Jewel in the crown of District Mohali. It is treading fast on its way to all glory and success. The credit goes to the strong driving force of the school, i.e. all highly qualified and dedicated staff members who as a team are always striving towards perfection and bringing out the best from the budding flowers in MSKPS.

The school is well-known for imparting quality education using modern technique with the latest equipments like Audio visual aids, computers, television and digital smart classes. To help the rural area students in doing their home work day boarding is observed. Free mid day meal given to the junior wing. Special concessions for weaker sections of Society & orphan students worth Rs. 2 lac is given. Scholarships are given for academics and sports.

Apart from the academics, co-curricular activities, due emphasis is laid on sports character building, personality and value education to do better in all the fields.

Realizing the importance of the role of extra-curricular activities as a contributing factor towards the development of a child in totality, the school is divided into 4 houses named after the personalities whose lives have been inspirational – Mai Bhago House, Lakshmi Bahi House, Mother Taresa House and Sarojni Naidu House. Many activities like debates, declamations, extempore, poetry recitation, dumb, charades, dance and song competitions, quiz, exhibitions, Gurbani – Kanth Competition, Shloka ucharan competitions, celebration of various important days and a lot more are organized from time to time.
